Weaver, Bruner, and Delk Bring Home the Hardware
This past week TVS hosted the Durkle
Invitational. It was well attended by fans, Athletic Director Tony
Augspurger stated that if it wasn't a record breaking crowd, then it
was close to it. Eaton won the girls side with 105.5 points. Host
Twin Vally South won the boys side with a score of 91.5 points.
Local teams finished as follows: Girls
- 5th place(tie) Ansonia, Arcanum; 8th Franklin
Monroe; 11th Tri-Village. Boys - 6th Ansonia;
7th Arcanum; 9th Tri-Village; 16th
Franklin Monroe.
There were some outstanding individual
performances where athletes brought home the hardware – winning 1st
place medals. Three athletes were “triple threats” - each
winning in three events. Which considering the number of teams
competing in the invitational was quite the feat. Selene Weaver from
Franklin Monroe was 1st in the pole vault, long jump and
200m dash. Austin Bruner from Tri-Village swept the sprint events,
he was 1st in the 100m, 200m, and 400m dashes. Finally
Tanner Delk from Arcanum swept the distance events, showing great
endurance. He was 1st in the 800m, 1600m and 3200m runs.

Long Drive Home for Blackhawk Teams
Fourth Inning Torpedoes Blackhawks
The Blackhawks lost a game that was
closer than the score would indicate against an always tough
Tri-County North team. The Blackhawks are in the middle of the
standings and win would have moved them up a notch. But they would
end up shooting themselves in the foot in the 4th inning
and allowing North to score some unearned runs.
Lady Blackhawks Suffer Reversal
After run ruling Union City 13-3, the
Lady Blackhawks suffered a set back the next night against TCN. The
roles were reversed as they were shutdown by North 13-0. The
Blackhawks had problems generating offense. Although they scattered
some hits during the game, they could not bring their base runners
around.

Wave Recovers For Win
The Greenville fastpitch team kept
their undefeated league record intact with a win over
Vandalia-Butler. The Wave fell behind early, but quickly recovered
and built a commanding lead that they maintained the remainder of the
game. When the game was over it would turn out to be a respectable
11-3 win. The 1st inning ended up 0-0,
but the Aviators had a bad turn....

Jets Teams Split Against Miami East
The Jets baseball team had a nail biter
going for 5 innings against fellow CCC team Miami East. For a good
while it was a 3-2 contest with Miami East holding that 1 run lead.
But the Jets faltered in the 6th inning and the Vikings
took advantage. They widened their lead and the Jets struggled to
generate runs down the stretch. They would finally fall 7-3.
Goins was the pitcher of record for the
Jets, he would be relieved in the 6th inning by Lawson.

Lady Jets Win Home Opener
Franklin Monroe overcame a slow start
to come from behind and narrowly beat the Miami East Vikings in a
conference win. It was the Jets 1st game at home and
their 2nd league game of the young season. They were
still smarting from a loss to Covington, so this was a chance to even
up their league record. It was a 7-6 game for the Jets. And the
icing on the cake was that it was Coach Morris's 100th
victory in his 7 years with the program.
Hein had a rough 1st inning
for the Jets. Miami East took advantage of Franklin Monroe errors
and

Arcanum run rules Trail
National Trail is expected to be in the upper half of the league this season. But the visiting Arcanum Trojans had hot bats despite the cold March weather and made mincemeat of the Trail pitching and would run rule the team for a conference win 13-1. Defensively the team excelled as well.
The winning pitcher, Wade Meeks, only allowed a single run. And almost as importantly in the era of pitch counts, he did it in 76 pitches so that gives the team some...
