Jets Win Early Showdown

The Franklin Monroe Jets and the Arcanum Trojans are two teams that have been in the top part of the league in recent years. Both teams are off to a strong start this season and figure to finish well in the league. In an early season game that could have repercussions on the ultimate winner of the CCC, it was Franklin Monroe that won in straight sets. But those 3 sets were not easy to win as the Trojans fought all the way. The scores were 25-18, 25-22 ,26-24.

Tri-Village Scrimmages Troy Christian

The Tri-Village Patriots completed their final tuneup before the season against Troy Christian. Tri-Village got off to a shaky start, but recovered their composure and made progress against the Eagles. Both teams ran a no huddle offense with the Eagles using the shotgun and mainly featuring the run. On the other hand, the Patriots used a spread offense and in the early part of the scrimmage, they were a pass first team. This kept the referee's busy as both teams ran plays in a rapid fire manner.

But Troy Christian came out strong and got the 1^st two scores on their 1^st two possessions. It was not looking pretty. But the Patriots came back and got a defensive stop. This change of momentum caught fire with the offense who suddenly began hitting their passes and soon the Patriots were on the board as well – scoring on a 1 yard run that was set up by a long pass.

Troy Christian would score a total of 4 times while Tri-Village would score once.

Patriots Defeat Dogs

The Tri-Village Patriots volleyball team opened their 2019 season with a win on the road. It was not pretty at times, but the team fought through their 1^st game jitters and defeated the SWBL's Dixie Greyhounds in straight sets: 25-11,25-22, 25-18.

This years edition of the team has a combination of youth plus experience with a mix of sophomores, juniors, and seniors. So for several of the younger players this was their 1^st varsity match. And although they decisively won their 1^st match, a feisty Greyhound team battled hard the next 2 sets. The Patriots had to fight from behind....

Ansonia Scrimmages TVS and Lehman Catholic

Ansonia traveled to Twin Valley South for a three way scrimmage that also involved Lehman Catholic. Ansonia enjoyed some success, but also had mental mistakes that could be costly in a game situation. Ansonia had a total of 4 varsity scores while the the JV's scored twice. Lehman Catholic had 4 and 1 respectively while South only had a single score. Ansonia's varsity defense was almost unscored upon, but late in the scrimmage Lehman Catholic threw a 45 yard touchdown strike to break the shutout.
