North Dominates South

Despite a rocky start - giving up an opening kickoff touchdown that was ran in by South's Mike Crews, North quickly got on track and dominated South for a 42-7 win.  And to add to the early miscues, on their first snap from scrimmage, North fumbled the ball - they recovered the ball but it was a shaky start to a rivalry game for the visiting Panther team. North did complete that drive and scored a touchdown when Luke Eby plunged in from  4 yards out. But the momentum shifted when Ben Singleton recovered a South fumble at midfield.  That stopped a South drive that could have put them back on top.

But from that point on, North did all of the scoring. They regained the momentum and did not let South threaten again. They did this despite losing their starting quarterback Dylan Stinson last week due to injury. Their back up took over this week and did a commendable job at the helm. North passed sparingly, but were effective.

"We let them run the kickoff back for a touchdown and at that point they had all the momentum. But we kept on chipping away and gradually got that momentum back. We hit on some big plays and got that momentum back."

Defensively North did a good job of stopping the run and when South tried to pass, South felt the heat. Their quarterback was sacked 5 times.  Cooper Cole got 4 of the sacks and also kicked a nice coffin corner punt that went about 47 yards and put South on their own 2 yard line. North controlled the line of scrimmage and South found it hard to establish a ground game.  In the last quarter both teams put in their JV's.

"We pursued well to the ball, and the pass rush was crazy. Cooper Cole was all over the backfield, Isaac Johnson had some pressures. We were getting after it up front. Football is a game of position and Cole did a good job tonight with his kicking game."

It was rookie head coach Adam Hall's first win with the Panthers.  It was a rivalry game and also the game was sponsored by the National Guard, who furnished the host South team with camouflage jerseys. So there was plenty of pressure for this game.

North scoring:Luke Eby 4 yd TD run; Eby 6 yd TD run; 15 yd TD catch; Eby 2 yd TD run;  6 yd TD run; Booth 4 yd TD run.

North defense: Braeden Rike int; Rike sack; Cooper Cole 4 sacks; Jacob Davis fumble recovery; Ben Singleton fumble recovery

South defense: Napier sack. South offense Crews 62 yd TD run.

Coach Hall on the game,"I am very proud of our guys, we lost our starting quarterback last week, which is hard for any team. I have to commend Twin Valley South, they were hard hitting the entire game. They played hard too.  But I am proud of the way we played. We will break down the film and see what we need to do better for next week against Bethel."
