Hounds Outrun Panthers

This is was a game where the crew running the chains had to wear track shoes to keep up with all the scoring.  South and Dixie combined for a total of 96 points on opening night.  The scoring stayed relatively even until the 4th quarter when Dixie's Dakota Grice scored a go ahead touch down - catching a Devin Worley pass and Hall kicked a critical extra point to make it a 2 score game.  Then Grice ran in an extra touchdown to put the game out of reach.  South attempted one last drive, and who else but Grice dashed any hope of a Panther comeback with an interception to end the game.  The final score was Dixie 56 and South 40.

Dixie scored on their first play from scrimmage with Worley connecting with Grice for a 65 yard TD.  But South's Ryan Bassler ran nearly the length of the field on South's first offensive play and CJ Clark punched the ball in from the 3 yard line and the scoring race was on.  Dixie maintained a lead for most of the night but South briefly lead 22-21 in the 2nd quarter but allowed Dixie to score just before halftime to regain the lead 28-22.  In the second half, the Dixie defense was able to get better pressure on South's Cade Cottingim and got several sacks.  This slowed down the Panther offense and they just could not keep pace with the Hounds offense who consistently scored twice in each quarter.

Patriots Fall to Hounds

The Patriots volleyball team is starting their season on the road with an opener at  SWBL’s Dixie and then an early season tournament against some other CCC teams this weekend.  And when you play on the road you can’t afford to make many mistakes.  Although Tri-Village had the taller team, a shorter but more defensive Dixie kept the ball off the floor and put the Patriots on their heels for most of the match. The Patriots had some good sets but could not get point off the sets as the ball tended to go deep or left or right when they sent it over the net.  The Patriots gifted a lot of points in the match.  Still they won one set and showed spirit in the final set when they closed from 9 points down to fall just short 25-22.  The scoring was 18-25, 25-17,16-25,22-25.  Their best set of the night was the second one of course...

TVS Soccer Garners 1st Win

Twin Valley South Boys Soccer Team gets their first win of the season vs Madison. Hunter Bennett scored the lone goal of the first half for the panthers off an assist from Aaron Clark. The game remained 1-0 for a while deep into the second half. Jacob Wells broke the game loose when he scored two goals and on his 18th birthday! Hunter Bennett assisted one of those goals and then Bryant Marker added the last goal off an assist from his brother Brayden.

Coach Young: "I thought we played well today. Madison had some good counter attacks. I told the kids at halftime I thought we could possess the ball and try to slow the ball down a little bit in the second half. We worked a lot on our conditioning in the off season and I thought we could keep wearing them down, and that's what we did."

The panthers will take on Union County Thursday night.
