Blackhawks Over North

In workmanlike fashion the Mississinawa Blackhawks dispatched the Tri-County North Panthers. An opportunistic defense generated points off of turnovers and the offense was able to create scoring opportunities both inside and outside. North had a tough time establishing an offensive rhythm and the Blackhawks were able to make some nice plays in the 2nd half to win going away 59-42.

Mississinawa Valley:Dirmeyer 11, Felter 2, A. Scholl 6, Godfrey 12, Hiestand 2, Dirksen 10, B. Scholl 16.
North: Stinson 20, Rike 3, Royer 6, Eby 7, Pennington 2, McCloud 4.

Jets Shoot Daggers in 1st Half, Foul Shots in 2nd Half for Win

Coach Myers had to be concerned how his young team would react playing on the road at TVS after being manhandled by Arcanum the night before 19-50. Would the team be able to come back up off the mat and compete? The plucky team showed that they came to play and built a 1st quarter lead that they would retain all night. Defensively they held South's Cole Petersen in check, holding him to 15 points on the night and not allowing him to score at all in the last quarter. It was a morale building bounce back win for Franklin Monroe 48-40.

Franklin-Monroe: Cool 7, Basker 2,Diceanu 11, Byers 10, Sargent 4, Luchini 14.
TVS: Grobard 5, Wright 6, Crews 10, Petersen 15, Delong 4.

Patriots Defeat Stubborn Eagles

It was a heated contest between the host Tri-Village Patriots and the Troy Christian Eagles this past weekend. It was a defensive contest in the 1st half but both teams found some offense in the 2nd half. The Patriots got the lead late and then had to fend off a stubborn Eagle challenge in the last few minutes. It was shaky at times down the stretch for the young team, but the Patriots managed to walk out of the gym with a 51-44 win.

Tri-Village: Delong 4, Scantland 11, Dowler 3, Sarver 17, Suggs 13, Finkbine 3.

Ansonia Stopped by Trail

National Trail has been the team to beat in the CCC this season and this past weekend it was Ansonia's turn at trying to hand the Blazers their 1st league loss. It was a night long battle with the teams going back and forth. But it was Trail who found a way to eek out a lead in the 4th quarter and then hold off Ansonia's attempts at clawing back into the game for a 53-44 win.

Ansonia: Farrier 15, Stammen 11, Buckingham 3, Barga 11, Hemmerich 4

Jets Victors Over Hounds

It has been a hard season for the Franklin Monroe Jets. They are in the midst of a rebuilding year and the wins have been few. Likewise, the SWBL's Dixie Greyhounds have struggled this season. The two leagues frequently play each other and it is a point of pride for the CCC to get a win over a SWBL team. In a game of evenly matched teams it can become an exciting contest and indeed things heated up quickly in the Dixie gym. The visiting Jets were the eventual victors in a defensive contest 47-34.

Scoring: Cool 7, Baker 6, Diceanu 9, Byers 6, Sargent 10, Luchini 8

Patriots Pulverize Panthers

The Tri-Village Patriots simply dominated in all phases of the game against league foe Twin Valley South. South has had a resurgence in the new year and has had some impressive wins. They were riding a wave coming into the game, but that wave crashed hard against the stalwart defense and balanced offense of the Patriots. It was a lopsided 56-24 victory for the home team.

Coach Jones was satisfied with the win, “This was the best, most complete game that we have played this season. We came into the game with a chip on our shoulder; we knew that South had some quality wins and we were prepared for them. Our bigs did a good job rebounding, but even our guards were able to get to the ball.”

Tri-Village: Dalton Delong 3, Josh Scantland 9, Zacharie Dowler 9, Layne Sarver 7, Wilson Suggs 6, Ty Linkous 9, Dylan Finkbine 10, Jason Hale 3.

TVS: Clark 2, Marker 3, Wright 1, Keener 1, Crews 3, Petersen 14.

The visiting Mississinawa Valley Blackhawks started slow and gave the host Twin Valley South Panthers a generous lead early in the game. The team attempted to rally in the 2nd half, but had difficulty making headway against South. The end result would be a long bus ride home for the Blackhawks as they would end up on the wrong side of a 52-37 score.

Ansonia Dropped by South

Twin Valley South, who entered the game winless, put together a game that upset 2nd place Ansonia. However, South has had a resurgence in the new year – barely getting edged by Bethel 50-52 in their previous game. Although Ansonia had their chances and made a hard charge at the end, they would fall in a defensive struggle 38-36.

Winless in the 1st half of the season, they seemed to have found direction and peeled off 3 wins since Winter break. Trojans Fend Off 2nd Half Challenge by North

The Trojans had a comfortable halftime lead of 28-13, but the Tri-County North Panthers regrouped at the break and made a game of it. The Trojans showed that they could work the ball inside with their strong post players, but could tickle the laces from the outside when the opportunity arose. North made a strong run at the Trojans in the last quarter but after closing the gap, the Trojans shot well from the foul line and ended the night with a 57-45 win.

Scoring: Cade Brubaker 8; Jake Goubeaux 17, Chad Pitzer 9, Cameraon Burke 11, Ian Baker 1, Nick Sharritts 2, Grant Delk 9.   North's Dylan Stinson lead all scorers with 23 points.
